Can You Use Roof Rack Crossbars Wider Than The Roof Of A 2017 Honda CR-V

Question:

Looking at the baseline roof rack system. The 60” jetstream bar keeps saying it does not fit my 2017 Honda CRV, but apparently the 50” has no issues. Why is that popping up when it’s the same bar? I want the longer one because I plan to carry a canoe and a kayak

The reason the the 60" Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00426 are showing as not confirmed to fit your 2017 Honda CR-V is due to the fact that it will be wider than the roof of your vehicle. As long as the 60" bars are narrower than the widest point of your CR-V which is usually the mirrors, you will be able to use the # Y00426. If the crossbars are too wide it can cause a safety issue and could even be illegal in some areas, and you would want to stick with the 50" # Y00425.

To do this you would need BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y28TR, Fit Kit # Y06188 and Fit Kit # Y06189. Using the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07204 will secure the roof rack feet to your vehicle to deter theft.

If you do not already have already have a kayak and canoe carrier I recommend taking a look at the Malone FoldAway-5 Kayak, SUP, and Canoe Carrier with Tie Downs # MAL38FR.

I included videos for the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
