Tire Chain Recommendation for Deep Snow with Tire Size 35-12.5-15

Question:

Hi, need chains for a 1998 Wragler TJ. After market lift, running 35-12.5-15 BF tires. I am Search and Rescue, and live in Big Bear Lake, CA, 7000 feet elevation. Usually I never need chains on the TJ. However, since i need to carry a pair, Id rather buy a pair that can serve for off road in case I need to rescue. Snow can get to 3 feet or so, and it is hilly on the dirt roads, in winter. I was debating between TC3835 or PWH2226SC plus tighteners. Please advise which one youd recommend, and which tightener, and if any other item. Thanks!

The two chains you mentioned are solid choices but they aren't what I would recommend as a first choice for your application. The V-bar chains part # TC3835 are ideal for icy conditions as the v-bars break up the ice whereas the twist link part # PWH2226SC are more ideal for balancing ride quality and traction since the links are lower profile and more rounded. For deep snow the style that's best is the square link as it does the best at digging in and getting traction in the deep snow.

So for that I would recommend the Titan Square link set part # TC3235SCAM which is going to give you the best traction and overall quality. A set of tensioners like the part # TCMA2 would be a really great option to keep the tension in the chains and fit them to your tires.
