We can get your 2020 Ford Escape set up with a roof rack and load-assist kayak carrier, and it sounds like you have a naked (bare) roof, so the best option for your Escape is going to be a rack from Yakima, which consists of the following parts:
- Yakima JetStream Crossbars - # Y00426
- BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y28TR
- BaseClip Fit Kit # Y06137
- BaseClip Fit Kit # Y06152
This rack is the best set up for your 2020 Escape because of its long 60 inch crossbars that allow you to maximize your ability to carry cargo and give you the most room to make installing and loading accessories on the rack as simple as possible. It is also an extremely quiet rack system because of the aero shape of the bars that have built-in WindRidges which direct the air flow over the bars to minimize any wind noise. I do recommend protecting your investment by adding locks to secure the rack to your Escape with the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07204.
Then for a load-assist kayak carrier I recommend the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist with Tie-Downs # MPG114MD-351XL.
This is a J-style carrier with load assist bars that make it simple to move your kayak onto the carrier. I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well.
