Reverse Lamp Circuit Wire on 2011 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hi, I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring elite and am trying to follow this video to install the ETBC7 kit. In your video showing the 5506 install kit, In the part that shows the technician tapping the brown wire with gray stripes for the reverse light circuit I am having a problem. I can find the wire, and when I try to test it with the tester door closed, van in accessory mode, shift to reverse I can not get the circuit to light up. My reverse lights work fine on the van hatch - but this wire dosent seem to fire. - Is it possible that its a different color wire on the 2011 Touring Elite? - Does the car actually need to be running for the wire to get current? - Can he backup sensor being on/off affect this? I dont want to tap it if Im not sure its the right wire.. Thank you!

In order to get voltage on that circuit, the rear hatch will need to be closed with the ignition on or in accessory mode with the transmission in reverse. The vehicle should not be running. If the brown wire with gray stripes doesn't light the tester, check all the others in that wiring harness in case a different wire color was used.
I wasn't able to find any information about if the back up sensors would have any affect, but I'd test the wires with the sensors turned on and turned off.
