Drop Shank For A Fast Way E2 Weight Distribution Hitch On A 2015 Chevy Traverse
Question:
I need assistance finding a solution for my WD system dilemma, or are my concerns unwarranted. It appears the shank that comes with my Fastway e2 trunnion 4500 lb WD system does not down far enough to accommodate my older model fiberglass travel trailer approximate 2660 lb 360 lb. TW which has a coupler height of 15 1/2 . With the WD shank ed into the receiver hitch of my tow vehicle, the top of the ball hitch head at lowest level is at 19 1/2. I am concerned about ground clearance if I go with a longer shank. What length shank would I need to make this system work safely? Is there a rule of thumb regarding a safe ground clearance regarding down hitches? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I need to make my travels safe.

A rule of thumb for us when talking about ground clearance is 13". If you are concerned about clearance I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 10-1/4" Rise, 5-1/2" Drop Item # FA92-02-4214. If your coupler is at 15-1/2", a 2015 Chevrolet traverse hitch height is around 18-1/2", this shank provides a 4" drop which should allow you to get your trailer level once set up with the weight distribution.
