Fitting A New 5th Wheel Hitch On A Truck With Older Style Rails

Question:

I currently have the Demco DM8552027 and DM6014 rails in my truck for an old Hijacker 5th wheel hitch. I will be losing the Demco Hijacker hitch soon and was wondering if there was another common hitch that fit that rail or if there was another common rail system that would fit the DM8552027.

I do have a solution that will allow you to keep the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Mounting Brackets # DM8552027 that are already installed on your vehicle.

You will have to change your existing older style rails for universal rails that will fit newer style hitches.
The Universal Above-Bed Base Rails for Demco # DM6071 will work great, as this will bolt up to your current brackets.

For the 5th wheel hitch itself, I recommend either the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 or the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16180.

The Curt A16 # C16120 has a gross towing weight of 16,000lbs and max tongue weight of 4,000lbs, whereas the Curt A25 # C16180 has a gross towing weight of 25,000lbs and max tongue weight of 6,250lbs.

Either one of these hitches will work with the Universal Demco # DM6071 rails mentioned above.
The decision really comes down to how much weight you will be pulling.

I have attached demonstration videos for these products.
