Installing Gooseneck Hitch Receiver While Truck Bed Is Removed on 2001 Ford F-350?
Question:
Most of the gooseneck receiver for installation under the bed are for installing while the bed is on. I am changing beds on my 01 F350 and would like to purchase a receiver that requires the bed to be removed as it seems to me to be less bulky and less pieces. Do you have such a product or can direct me to a supplier that has one? Thank You.

If you want to install your gooseneck hitch while your truck bed is removed on your 2001 Ford F-350, you can still do so since these hitches get attached to the frame itself and not the bed. The Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # C60685 is a great option with how it attaches to only the frame rails. We don't have any hitches that require bed removal, but the Curt EZr # C60685 would be my recommendation.
A problem you might encounter is aligning the hole for the gooseneck ball which needs to be cut out of the bed. If by chance it is 1/16" off, the hitch head can be slightly adjusted. The only other thing that would need to be done is the safety chain loops and those get done after the bed is installed.
I attached the install video below if you want to check out the process.
If you don't already have a 7-Way installed in the bed of your 2001 F-350 then I definitely recommend installing the Curt Gooseneck Wiring Harness 7-Pole # C56000 to make connecting/disconnecting your trailer wiring much easier.
