I checked out the online owner's manual for your 2011 BMW X3, and it says that tire chains should only be placed on the rear tires of your vehicle, so that's what you'll want to do. We do have a great option for chains, assuming you have the standard 245/50-18 tires (I do recommend checking just to be sure), and those are the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TH01571245.

The Konig are the best option for your BMW starting with how easy they are to put on, using very handy color-coded connection points so you don't spend a lot of time out in the cold when you have to put the chains on.

These chains are also diamond-pattern D-links which means optimal coverage for your tires and outstanding overall traction in the snow. I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well of the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TH01571245.
