Could Curt Adjustable Ball Mount C45900 Be Used with 2008 Chevy Suburban

Question:

I am looking at the 45900 as an option, but can not determine if it will go low enough. Is the 6 inch take into account the height of the ball, or said another way is the 6 inch to the top of the ball or does it just mean that the frame of the 45900 goes down 6 inches from the hitch and when you add the roughly 3 inch height of the ball you only have a 3 inch ? The bottom of my suburbans hitch is roughly 22 inches of the ground as it is in the bumper. I need the top of the hitch ball to be at roughly 15 inches to pull my horse trailer as that is what it is now with my 04 yukon, so I need a of roughly 7 inches to the top of the ball, I think 6 would probably work as these are not exact measurements with all the snow and ice on the ground, but 3 or 4 will not. If the 45900 will not work for me, can you recommend something that will? It looks like 45901 may down lower, but is rated to pull less. I would say I pull about 5-6000 pounds, but I generally try to find things that will work for 10,000 pounds or less for trailer weight when possible. Thanks.

So to determine if the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 would provide you with enough drop you'll first need to verify the amount of drop needed. To do that you need to measure from the top of you hitch opening on your Suburban down to the ground and then from the bottom lip of the coupler on your trailer when it's sitting level down to the ground and compare those two dimensions. If you find that the distance is 6 inches or less the # C45900 will work great.
