You can use the Demco base plates # DM9517188 for your 2009 Pontiac G6 GT. But first, you are going to want to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine if the vehicle can be flat towed and if there are any special requirements. From what I found if the vehicle has the 3.9 liter V6 motor it cannot be flat towed. But it is not clear if it can be dolly towed or not. You would need to talk to a GM tech at a dealership to determine if dolly towing is acceptable.

If you find that you can flat tow the vehicle then there are only certain tow bars that can be used with the base plates. I recommend the Demco Commander # DM9511012 for your Pontiac. The base plates we carry have not been tested with and are not rated for use with your tow bar. Some different manufacturers do make adapters for use with each others products but not in this case. In addition to the base plates and tow bar, you will need 3 other items.

You will need safety cables unless you go with the Avail or Alpha which come with cables. For cables you can use # BX88196.

Next you will need a lighting kit. If you will not be towing the vehicle often I recommend a magnetic kit like # RM-2120. But for a more permanent solution go with kit # HM55999.

And finally, most states now require a supplemental braking kit on the vehicle being flat towed. I recommend the Stay-IN-Play DUO, # SM99251, proportional system which applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

I have also included some helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you.
