Mounting 3 Bikes on 2020 Subaru Crosstrek With Class I Hitch

Question:

I have a 2020 Crosstrek with factory installed hitch class 1 and I have a three-bike family. I see there are few if any options in the hanging style hitch-mounted rack, and that the Inno 4 bike rack can be used with a class 1 hitchwhile, say, the Thule 4 bike cannot for the reason you offer: too much downward weight on the hitch when using more than 2 bikes. The easiest solution here is to use a trunk mounted bike rack like the Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Rack # SA803. This is my all around favorite trunk bike rack due to how it fits on a variety of vehicles. Also I'm a personal fan of their cool arched design.

The reason for this is a class I hitch like you have on your 2020 Crosstrek is only capable of carrying a bike rack with 2 or less bikes on it.

Another popular trunk bike rack for your vehicle is the Yakima FullBack 3 # Y02633 which comes with extra cushioned cradles and an integrated bike lock. You would use hub setting 3 with this bike rack. Each vehicle has their own 'hub setting' for a more custom fit.

Note that these are for the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek without a spoiler.
