What Can Cause Weight Distribution L-Brackets to Bend  

Question:

After pulling my trailer , I noticed the L brackets are deformed bent . question is what would the cause be? turning to sharp?

Sharp turns combined with too much weight for the system and L-brackets that are very tight can cause the brackets to bend. Make sure that the trailer weight does not exceed the capacity of your system and that the spring bar hangers are positioned the correct distance from the ball as indicated in the instructions for your system.

Be sure to check the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to to and then add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle to get the total tongue weight. If your system is not rated high enough then you will need to go to a larger system. On the Equal-i-zer systems, the spring bars are specific to the head so if a larger system is needed I recommend just replacing the whole system but keeping your existing shank.
