Will Thule MOAB Rooftop Cargo Carrier # TH690 Fit on 2006 Nissan Xterra

Question:

xterra,s have beefy stock roof racks. and the distance from the back of vehicle to the lever to open the stock compartement up front is not all that long. Will the thule moab 690 roof basket fit? You do not show this vehicle with that basket.

After speaking to my contact at Thule, I have found the Thule MOAB Rooftop Cargo Carrier # TH690 is a good fit for your 2006 Nissan Xterra and will not interfere with your rear hatch. The mount brackets for this product work for racks up to 4 inches wide and fits a minimum crossbar spread of 16 inches and a maximum crossbar spread of 28 inches. The weight capacity is 165 lbs but be sure to check your vehicles owners guide to ensure that weight is not higher than your vehicles roof capacity.

Just to ensure this item will fit on your Xterra, I went into our warehouse and measured the distance from the rear feet on the MOAB in the furthest rearward position to the front of the carrier. The distance is 41-1/2 inches. You will want to move your rear crossbar as far backward as possible and then measure from the middle of the rear clamp to the distance I gave you to make certain the carrier will clear the storage compartment.

If you need to strap items down while transporting them using the MOAB, you might be interested in the Thule Cargo Net # TH692. It is 40 inches by 36 inches and stretches over the cargo carrier to ensure it is secure while traveling. I have included a link to a video review of this item.
