Recommended Replacement Brakes for Pre-1988 Hayes Trailer with 3500-lbs Axles
Question:
I have a pre 1988 Hayes 3500 lbs. Brake axle. Brake size is 2.25 x 10 in. With the round discontinued magnets. Is there a change over actuator arm with different magnet? Do I have to change brake assembly? Can not change the hubs because they are 4 lug. Thank you.

I have a solution for you, but we do not have replacement parts that can be used on those brakes so you will need to change the brake assemblies; this won't require changing the hubs at all so you can continue to use your 4 lug hubs. I recommend using the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA, which are a 10" x 2-1/4" brake assembly that are self adjusting, so they're a great solution to install and not have to worry about doing periodic maintenance on.
These brakes do not come with mounting hardware, so you'll also need that with part # BRKH10B. I've linked a review video of these brakes for you to check out.
