If you change the tire size on your vehicle to any that is different from the OEM size you will affect the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer readings. These gauge systems are factory calibrated for the specific tire size supplied at the time of manufacture.

On the driver side door jamb there should be a small plate that indicates the original tire size supplied, along with proper inflation pressure. You should keep the same tire size on the vehicle or your speed and mileage readings will be incorrect. It may be possible to recalibrate your speedometer/odometer to match a different tire size but this should be confirmed with a Ford dealer or other qualified service facility.

Changing to the 265/70/16 size tire may also reduce your load and towing capacities. Therefore we do not recommend doing this without first consulting with your local Ford dealer.
