Will My Yakima Rack Be Usable While Flat Towing A Vehicle

Can I tow a small Toyota Yaris connected to a Yakima hitch bike rack?

Since you already have a Yakima bike rack I recommend finding out the model of it and check to see if it's tested for towed vehicles. If you need help let me know the model of rack you have.
Some bike racks are rated to be used behind a towed vehicle or trailer but not all. There's more movement the further back you get whether it be on the back of a motorhome, trailer, or towed vehicle. This causes more stress on a hitch mounted bike rack and many of the racks are not tested for the additional stress.
If it so happens that your rack is not compatible with the use on a flat towed vehicle, I suggest the Yakima HoldUp EVO 2 Part # Y02480. This rack works with 1-1/4" hitches. If you are needing an option for 2" hitches, the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack will be the correct one for the 2" application. Both of these platform bike racks that mount with a wheel mount hook are rated to work with a flat towed vehicle.
