RV Roof Vent that Has Lid that Wont Break Down Over Time
Question:
I need advice on choosing a replacement roof vent. I have a 10 cargo trailer made by RandR trailers. Its just over 3 years old. I just went outside to find white colored plastic bits all over my driveway. I found that the roof vents milk plastic cover had deteriorated and simply blew apart from mild winds. The pieces were so brittle that it was even difficult to pick them up without them crumbling into dust. I think a combination of UV and cold temperatures caused the deteoration but just mild winds blew it to pieces. I need to replace it, obviously, but I dont want to replace it with a new one that will have the same problem. I dont need anything fancy. I just need one that will crank open for ventilation and it would be nice to allow light to pass through it but I dont want one that will deteriorate like the one I have. Im guessing its a standard size. If not, I dont know which dimensions to measure while its still installed. If I have to measure it, could you tell me what dimension I need to measure while its installed. I did see in one of your videos that one of your roof vents needs a wooden frame on the interior. That might be a problem with my trailer because there is no ceiling over. Its just the bare roof so there would be no wood to screw into. I suppose construction adhesive might work but I rather avoid that. Can you recommend a roof vent that wont deteorate like the one I have? Thanks,

The plastic lids do end up deteriorating over time like you have found. The best option to prevent that would be a roof vent with a metal lid like the Ventline Ventadome part # V2110SP-24.
For an install kit to go with it you'd want the part # 344270KITW as well.
