The 12-volt accessory circuit from the 7-way can be used to maintain a charged trailer mounted battery, but it is not capable of delivering enough amperage to recharge a depleted battery. If the battery becomes discharged, a battery charger like the CTEK # CTEK56353 can be used to recharge the battery.
The # 30717 is wired so that the black wire provides the 12-volt accessory feed. To connect this circuit to the vehicle battery, you will need a length of 10 gauge wire to connect the black wire to the positive battery terminal through a 40 amp circuit breaker, part # 9510.
The white wire with the ring terminal is grounded to the frame of your tow vehicle.
The blue wire is meant to carry the output voltage from a brake controller to the trailer brakes. This wire would be extended with a length of 10 gauge wire and ran to the blue output wire of your brake controller, if you have one.
The yellow wire is typically used for reverse lights, but can be used for other purposes like interior trailer lights, for instance. If this wire is not needed, you can cap off the end of it with electrical tape and bundle it up out of the way.
