Can Brake Controller and Hayes Sway Master be Used with 2018 Honda Pilot
Question:
hello, i have a 2018 honda pilot elite awd. i am trying to haul a geo pro 20bhs which has a dry weight of 3513lbs and tongue weight of 455lbs. i believe the pilot is capable to tow up to 5000lbs, which seems it will be able to handle it. the main question is, i have read that honda does not recommend a wdh, and i actually have read here, that there is an electonic sway controller which will hook up to the 7 pin hook up. now, i will need to use a brake controller, but how will i use both a brake controller AND the electronic anti sway controller? thank you for your time

Brake controllers can be used with electric sway control systems like the Hayes Sway Master # LC380605 without issue. The two systems work well together as they both put voltage on the brake output circuit without affecting the other. In general when the Sway Master is activated it won't be when you are applying the trailer brakes with the brake controller so for the most part they would be working at different times.
For a break controller the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED24FR is a really great option. It only would put a small knob on the dash of the vehicle and is proportional which means it senses how hard you apply the vehicle brakes and applies a relative amount of brake pressure. All you need to install it on your 2018 Honda Pilot is the part # RED59FR.
