Bed Side Step Recommendation for 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
2017 4 door silverado HD, 3/4 ton obviously. Would like to use this a step to help with truck bed operation of 5th wheel operation of unlatching the pin. I have the stock item bars that comes with the truck for the doors but nothing is there for the truck bed ahead of the tire. There is about 23 inches of open space between the existing bar and the fender stopping point where the rear tire well starts. I think Ive see the barinch that actually are made for this area, that info would help too. Thanks.

The Carr # CARR106332 Hoop Step you'd looked at is intended to be installed using the body pinch welds under the doors. That's not to say that you couldn't install it under the bed side, but you'd be on your own determining how to attach it to the vehicle as that's not where they were designed to install..
I really like the TrekStep by Bestop, part # B7540015. The spring loaded step extends and retracts with a push of your foot, and would put the handle of your 5th wheel hitch within easy reach. The TrekStep is custom designed to fit your Silverado 2500.
I've linked to the installation instructions for the TrekStep, as well as to a product description video that you might find helpful.
