Weight Capacity for Yakima OnRamp Platform Rack for Fifth Wheel Campers
Question:
We are interested in the Yakima Ebike rack with ramp, #8002706. We are putting on a 5th wheel. In reading specs, there is a statement about a max weight of 40lbs per bike on RV. Not many Ebikes that light. Whats up with that?

Helpful Expert Reply:
With hitch accessories weight capacities are decreased on RV's and campers because the suspension is more rough and has more chance of being bounced around. With the rear bumper on a camper or RV being further from the rear axle, it exaggerates the bouncing your bikes and bike rack are going to endure. Another good option to look at is part # LGA77FR. You are offered a 75 per bike weight capacity for this rack.
