Height Clearance Needed Between Top of Truck Bed Sides and Underside of 5th Wheel Trailer Loft

Question:

I have a 2008 Chev 3500HD normal size box 4x4, towing a trailer that is a 5th wheel Dutchman Voltage 3200 equipped with the Flex Air Pin Box by LCI. My question is what is the min height needed between the trailer and the box rails of my truck when hooked up for towing.

In order to prevent the top of the bed sides from contacting the underside of the trailer loft during turns on uneven terrain, you will need a minimum of six inches of clearance between the bottom of the loft and the top of your truck bed side rails.

Unless your truck is lifted, in most cases you can gain the proper clearance by adjusting the height of the pin box or the hitch.
