Availability of Replacement Latch for Old Sears X Cargo Box
Question:
I have Sears Xcargo carrier purchased around 1982 time frame Model 7249 looking to replace 2 broken snap latches part number: 455. The problem i cannot locate replacement latches. Do you have any recommendations what i could use as a replacement.

Thule tells me that the latch you referenced is an acceptable replacement for newer models of the X Cargo. We have other customers who have used the # 03347 latch as a replacement on their X Cargo boxes (see photo), and it has worked just fine.
Since your box is a little older, and appears to have used the metal latches, you might need to relocate the mounting holes for the latch, but other than that, the latch should work perfectly for you.
