Will E-Bikes be Easy to Load Onto Saris Freedom 4-Bike Rack & Are Fat Tire Adapters Available

Question:

Looking at the Saris Freedom Platform 4-bike rack. 1 Will it be difficult to load a 70 lb Juiced RipCurrent fat bike with 4” tires behind that vertical post so it rides closest to the hitch? 2 Will I have to remove batteries to accommodate this bike in addition to 60 lb Juiced CrossCurrent and two standard mtn bikes one hardtail, one full susp.? It will be installed on 2” hitch on Subaru Outback and occasionally on 22’ VW Rialta RV. 3 Can I exchange one set of cradles for fat tire cradles? Or do I pay for fat cradles and end up with an extra set of standard size cradles? 4 Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks!

The Saris Freedom 4-Bike Rack # SA4414B is one of my favorites, and so long as you don't have any issues lifting up the bikes, it isn't difficult at all to load them behind the vertical post so your bike is closest to the hitch. The wheel trays are large and you will be able to easily place your bike right in.

You can also get fat tire adapters, but can't get the rack with just one set of wheel holders for fat tires, you do need to get them extra with the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris Freedom Bike Racks # SA4419.

In regards to the batteries, the weight capacity of the inner holders is 60 lbs per bike, so you will need to remove the battery on your heavier bike in order to use the Saris Freedom # SA4414B.

The only other thing I recommend is adding a lock in order to secure the rack to your hitch and your bikes to the rack to help protect your investments. You can secure your bikes with Saris Cable Lock # SA981 and can secure the rack to your hitch with the Hitch Tite Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock # SA3022.
