Which Gooseneck Ball/Safety Chain Loop for 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 With Factory Tow/Prep Package
Question:
I am looking at the 5th wheel ball kit for 2021 Chevy 2500 with OEM hitch kit. I was looking at the 38K rated one but do not see a ring on it like on the SS one. How do you remove it from the puck hole without the handle?

The Curt # C38CR 38K capacity gooseneck ball removes from the hitch itself by flipping up the center latch, then rotating it. This takes the spring tension off the ball bearings that hold the ball in place, allowing the ball to be easily lifted out off the hitch, as shown in the linked video.
The B&W # BWGNXA2061 system uses the handle, as you described and has a 30K capacity. The handle is lifted and the ball rotated at which time you can lift the ball out of the hitch, I've also linked to a video showing how that works.
Quality wise, I prefer the overall quality of the B&W ball assembly. The handle allows you to easily remove the trailer ball without getting rust or grease all over you, and the safety chain mounts simply lift out after lifting them and giving them a twist. If you're on a tighter budget, the Curt ball assembly would work just fine, but If you'd prefer a higher quality American made product, I'd recommend the B&W ball kit.
Either option provides a nice storage case to keep all the pieces together.
