Recommended Parts to Flat Tow 2014 Jeep Patriot Behind Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2018 Thor Quantum WS-31 motorhome and want to pull my 2014 Jeep Patriot manual transmission. I have a Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain tow bar. Need the base plate for the Jeep along with a supplemental braking system. Looks like Item # 521441-1 works for the base plate. Please advise as to base plate and braking system recommended.

In order to flat tow your 2014 Jeep Patriot, you'll need a tow bar which you already have, base plates, a wiring setup, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adapter.

The Roadmaster # 521441-1 would be a fine choice for a base plate, as long as your Patriot isn't equipped with the tow hooks up front. If you do have the tow hooks, you'll need to go with the Blue Ox # BX1130 along with a # RM-031 adapter. If you don't already have the necessary safety cables, use # RM-643. For a diode wiring kit with umbilical, use # RM-15247. For a supplemental braking system, the Roadmaster Even Brake, part # RM-9400 is a good choice. This portable system is easy to set up, and can be easily transferred from vehicle to vehicle if needed.

Assuming your Patriot is at factory ride height on the factory tire size, the Roadmaster base plates will sit right at 22 inches above the ground. The Blue Ox plates will sit 18 inches above ground. If the height of the base plates you use is more than 3 inches +/- to the height of the receiver on your motorhome, you'll need a high/low adapter to bring it within 3 inches. I'll link you to our selection of adapters as well as to some articles about flat towing that you might find helpful.
