Is the HydraStar Control Adapter Module Required for a 2012 Silverado 2500HD OEM Brake Controller
Question:
Hi, I hope you can help me, we have just purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and gone to take our boat out and had an issue with the integrated break controller in the vehicle not working with the brake system on the trailer. The system on the trailer is a Hydrastar HBA-12 1200PSI Unit, Serial Number - 705913. photos attached I have had a look on your website and see that there is an adaptor HBA-Cam. Will fitting a HBA-CAM make the intergrated break controller and the Hydrastar Unit operate correctly. Thanks

Expert Reply:
You will want the HydraStar Control Adapter Module, # HBA-CAM, to use your Hydrastar HBA-12 unit with the factory integrated brake controller on your 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD.
The factory brake controllers on 2007 and up GM trucks are not directly compatible with electric-over-hydraulic braking systems and will require a separate adapter like the # HBA-CAM to function properly.
