Recommended Underbed Gooseneck and 5th Wheel Hitch System for 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 Short Bed
Question:
I have a 2020 Silverado 3500hd duramax with a tow hitch and all wiring. My question is this Is it factory standard to have a puck system already on frame. Can I find measurements to find pucks and drill holes to expose them and install a 5th wheel hitch? Also how hard is the install with the companion? What do you think of the Andersons gooseneck attachment and the 2nd generation reese? **** short bed

The factory puck system is not a standard feature that is included on trucks, and would be an option that is added on to certain trucks. If your truck does not have the pucks in the bed, then it's not going to have the components needed available. The good news is that there are underbed mounting systems that will give you the same clear truck bed as the puck system would.
You can add an underbed system like the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1020-5W that will put a gooseneck hitch in your 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500. The only downside is that the Turnoverball systems are only compatible with B&W Companion hitches and not other hitch systems, so you would need a hitch like the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400-5W; the sliding hitch would be required in order to gain the required clearance from the truck cab when performing tight turns and pulling a 5th wheel trailer. The Companion hitch mounts in the gooseneck hitch that the Turnoverball provides and is one of our most popular 5th wheel hitches because of their durability. B&W products are also made in the USA.
Since you have a short bed truck, I don't recommend using the Andersen Ultimate Hitch # AM3200 because it doesn't provide the needed clearance to safely perform tight turns with a 5th wheel trailer. I'll also add that the Andersen Ultimate is designed to mount in industry standard above bed rails, so you wouldn't be able to have the clear truck bed when the hitch isn't installed that the B&W Turnoverball provides.
I've linked a review and installation video of the Turnoverball system for you to check out.
