Can You Use A Fixed Fifth Wheel Hitch On a 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 6-3/4 Foot Bed W/ OEM Prep PKG

Can I use a fixed hitch in my 2021 GMC 2500 6-3/4 Bed. I have a 2019 Cougar 315 RLS. Ive been towing it with a 2013 2500 with a reese sliding hitch. However Ive never had to use the slide and have hooked up and back in at a 90 degree. The front cap on the camper is curved quite a bit.

It is possible that you will not need a sliding 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3775 depending on the design of the nose and width of your trailer.

The only way to know for sure if a fixed hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3710 you mentioned will allow you enough cab to trailer clearance to make a full 90 degree turn when installed on your 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 is to use the following formula.

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B = Length of slider/offset/Sidewinder
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

You need at least 4" of clearance to be able to make a 90 degree turn.

If you do not have at least 4" you could still use the fixed hitch, but would need to be extremely careful when turning to not damage your cab or trailer.
