Can I Use Gen-Y Gooseneck Couplers in the Reverse Orientation?
Question:
I’m looking at the gen-y torsion neck for a gooseneck trailer 5.5k. My question is can I run it to offset the trailer further forward, reverse of the normal direction? Or would that cause issues

I contacted Gen-Y, and they stated that using their gooseneck couplers, like the Spartan # 325-GH-7072 you were looking at, in the reverse direction with the coupler tube facing the cab of the truck instead of the tailgate is not recommended. They did say that using it this way could be possible and would not void the warranty on the coupler, but there could be issues with your weight distribution with more weight being placed in front of the rear axle. I cannot recommend going against the manufacturer's recommendations, so if you choose to set your coupler this way, you would be doing so at your own discretion.
