Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ram 2500 Short Bed With Factory Puck System & TrailAir Pin Box
Question:
Hello I have a 2020 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel short bed with the OEM puck system.. I just purchased a 2018 Grand Design Reflection 307MKS. I borrowed the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel to go pick trailer up and bring home. I am wanting to know what hitch you recommend, as I like the gooseneck style but wanted your opinion. Also the original Hitch lippert 1621 that came on trailer was replaced by previous owner to a trailair.

So while a gooseneck style can be convenient, they are technically adapters, and a TrailAir pin box like the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328492 is not compatible with any type of adapter, so you'll need a standard sliding 5th wheel hitch in your 2020 Ram 2500 with the puck system.
For a 5th wheel hitch that fits your pucks and is compatible with the TrailAir, I highly recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3670.
The Companion is by far the best hitch because of its immense jaws, cushioned bushings, and pivoting head, all of which combine to give you the most comfortable towing experience possible, particularly with the cushioned TrailAir you have.
The jaws on the Companion are what makes the most difference, as they are a full 1 inch thick, and this robust jaw system is why the Companion minimizes the chucking, jarring and noise better than any other hitch in the industry. I have added a photo which gives you a good idea of the full breadth of these jaws and why they act like an adhesive to your king pin.
I have also added a link below to a video review for you to check out of the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3670.
