Needed Tools to Install the Convert-A-Ball 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter

Question:

What type of sockets do you guys recommend for torqueing the bolts down with? Do you guys have special square sockets? Or are the star sockets work fine? Don’t want to strip them specially since I have to torque them.

No worries! You don't need specially-shaped sockets to install Convert-A-Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G although a torque wrench like # PT87ZR is definitely helpful to make sure you have enough torque. When installing the kingpin, a 3/4" hex bit was used. I attached a screenshot from the video. As for the large square cap screws on the adapter, it helps to tighten down as much as you can with a crescent wrench before torqueing it down to the instructed torque of 100 ft. lbs. You can use your own socket here as long as it's the right size. A 1-1/8" wrench was used on the jamb nuts.

I also attached our install video of this Convert-A-Ball Adapter # CAB-C5G if you want to follow along. When you're done with the install, I recommend switching the handle with a padlock like # 141T to guard from towaway theft.
