Recommended 2-Bike Platform Rack For 2006 Toyota RAV4

Dear Sir, I would like to know if the 2-Bike Platform Rack suitable for Toyota 2006 RAV4 as there is a spare tire case at the cargo door. I have a Draw-Tite Class III trailer hitch and dont want to add any extension on it, because I have 2 mountain bikes around 30 pounds. Thank you

This is something we can find a solution to but from what I have found is that we probably have to choose a different rack.

I was able to find that on a 2007 Toyota RAV4 that from the center of the hitch pin hole and the outer edge of the tire cover is 7" and the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack part # C18085 requires that this measurement be less than 3" when folded. That means that it will make contact. You can verify this by measuring yours to see if it is the same.

If it is the same the following racks will work as they have a little bit more room in this area and will allow you to clear that spare cover.

The Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S64670 is extremely popular and offers a lot of bang for the buck.

The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 2 Bikes part # HLY94FR has a newer look to it and has proven to be a good rack.

Finally the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack part # SH22B is one of my favorites. It is easy to use, looks really nice and hold the bikes by the tire rather than the frame eliminating any potential for frame damage.

I would choose the Sherpa then the XTC-2 and the Destination last if you want an opinion on it.
