Can P3 Brake Controller Install in 2014 Ram 3500 with Integrated Factory Controller
Question:
Hello. I have a 2014 ram 3500 with the cummins diesel. My factory integrated braking system is not working as it should. I dont believe its my trailer, as it has done it on my last trailer. I get a message that comes and goes that the trailer brakes are disconnected. When I spoke to the dealer about this, he told me that you can NOT put an aftermarket trailer braking system into this truck. But I see that you are are advertising your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. I watched the video, and it looks very simple to install, but I need to be sure that it will work with my truck since it all ready has the integrated system. any information you can give me will be very helpful. thank you.

You can bypass the factory brake controller on a 2014 Dodge Ram. To install an aftermarket controller you will need to disconnect the integrated trailer brake module (ITBM). Doing so will turn on a warning lamp in the dash.
In order to disconnect the ITBM and not get the warning lamp, your local Dodge dealer will have to reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), of the truck. Once the TIPM has been reconfigured, and the ITBM has been unplugged, you can use a vehicle specific brake control harness, # 3023-P.
To disconnect the ITBM, you will need to contact Business Center to remove the sales code (XHC). The TIPM will need to be reconfigured. Once the sales code has been disabled you can disconnect the ITBM electrical connector, under the dash, without getting the warning lamp.
Or a super easy solution is the Curt Echo part # C51180 which plugs into an active 7-way and once synced to a smart phone is ready to tow.
