5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 with Reese Rails
Question:
I currently have a 15,000 lbs Reese hitch and would like to replace it with a Pro Series PS 30093 or 30094 hitch. My question- Is the distance between the legs pretty much standard? In other words, can I just in the head assembly without having to replace the rails and legs. My hitch was manufactured around 2000. If the rails have to be replaced, which I would do, would I have to drill new holes into the frame of the 2001 Dodge 3500 long bed dually? Thanks for any help on this request.

With the current rails you have in your 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 you should have no problem installing either a Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 or a Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075.
Reese has been making rails of the same design for a number of years and you should have no problem using your current rails with either of the hitches you referenced. I would recommend the non-sliding hitch # RP30047 since you have a long bed. Slider hitches are usually used on short bed trucks where there is not enough clearance to make 90 degree turns. Check out the FAQ article I attached fifth wheel hitches also.

One more question. I would like to keep the current rails and legs in my truck and would like to know if it is possible to purchase the PS30093 without the legs. If so, what would the price be?Thanks so much for all the info youve forwarded. It has been very helpful in my making a decision on purchasing parts for my hitch. Currently, the hitch is fine with the exception that the main monster pin that holds the head to the crossbar is wornthe hole is bigger than the monster pin. Thanks again for your help.
