How do I Set Up my Tekonsha Prodigy P3 for my 13,000 lb. Horse Trailer
Question:
we have various trailers...car haulers and horse trailers, all different weights... so do the pictures have to correspond to the trailer that is hooked up ? I put this trailer on the one that looks like a gooseneck trailer just read one of your articles that says that after adjusting the brake drums the P3 unit must be reset...plug out and all....yes or no ?? we have been having trouble with the 3 horse lq trailer 13000# braking...originally with the very old controller it would do extremely hard jerks when braking, that controller had no numbers or way to see what adjustments were being made so I purchased the P3 ..lots of info but now I have one tire that locks up after the breaks are warmed up , all brakes were adjusted, blown clean, bearings checked........ Ideas I really need this trailer safely on the road in 4 days... HELP and thanks

I would turn your boost setting down one notch on your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 part # 90195. This will not reduce the braking force but it will slightly lower the aggressiveness that the controller applies the brakes.
You have done everything on your side to ensure proper operation. At this point you just need to find that sweet spot. Like I said above I would start with the boost move it down to level two using the top right button and retest it. If that does not give you the desired results I would turn the boost back up and lower the gain or brake power slightly. Continue to do this until that tire quits locking up on you.
There is no need to reset or unplug the P3 it is designed to auto level and does not need anything else.
