Best Snow Chain Solution for 2020 Subaru Outback Touring XT

The recommended chains cost a FORTUNE. If Subaru Outback doesnt recommend chains what happens when an Outback hits a road where chains are required....?

The note in your owner's manual for your 2020 Subaru Outback that states "Tire chains cannot be used on your vehicle because of the lack of clearance between the tires and vehicle body." is the reason for that particular recommendation.
There are several styles of chain that will fit but the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH02230K66 were recommended for the fact that they do not fit in behind the tire where damage is likely to occur on your outback. These attach to the front side and only make contact with the tread area of your wheel.
Your other option is to have a second set of wheels and tires that are DOT rated for winter use and are certified to be used as a substitute for tire chains. I believe but can not guarantee that the Firestone Winterforce's are rated for this.
