Is the cable designed to mount onto the winch without a fastener? need help please.

The Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch, part # DL10950 does not use a cable fastener. The procedure for fastening the cable to the winch spool is shown in the owners manual included with the winch, but the diagram provided is not very clear.
I have made a short video for you that shows the process of threading the cable onto the spool.
