Is Air Tank Necessary with Firestone Air Command II F2178 on 2003 Dodge Ram 3500

Do I need the air tank? Or does the pump just put out pressure directly? Vehicle is 2003 Dodge Ram 3500, 4x4

According to my Firestone Air Spring representative, the Digital Air Command II that you referenced, part # F2178 may be used with or without a tank.
Having an air tank will allow the springs to be inflated more quickly, as the air will be coming from a compressed tank. The stored compressor can also be used to inflate tires if necessary.
