Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2000 Saturn L Series

Question:

can I use a Falcon 5250 tow bar with the 523102 base plate installed on a 2000 Satun L ? And would the 523102 be the only type of baseplate in use on the saturn. The original owner used a Aventi tow bar but I have found the falcon 5250 for sale and wonder if the 2 are compatable??

The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, part # 523102-1 will work with the Roadmaster Falcon 5250 Tow Bar on your 2000 Saturn L. The Falcon 5250 tow bar is a discontinued tow bar. The EZ base plates feature removable draw bar arms that you can remove when you are not flat towing the vehicle.

In addition to the base plates and tow bar, you will also need safety cables, lighting, and a supplemental braking system for the Saturn. For safety cables, I recommend the coiled cables, part # RM-643. The coiled design helps to keep the cables off of the ground.

For lighting, there are several options depending on your specific needs and how often you will towing the vehicle. I have included a link to an FAQ article that covers the various options so you can determine what would work best for you. Also, I am including a link to the wiring options that are available for your Saturn.

Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. This reduces wear and tear on both vehicles and is the safest way to stop. I am including a link to a FAQ page on supplemental braking systems.

The other base plates that will fit your Saturn are the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX3314. These base plates will fit the Blue Ox tow bars, like the Aventa tow bar you have mentioned. They can also be used with the Roadmaster Falcon tow bar by using the Roadmaster Tow Bar to Blue Ox Brackets Adapter, part # RM-031.
