Correct Spring Position on a Dual Axle Boat Trailer with Slipper Springs
Question:
Hi, i have a dual boat trailer and the slipper springs are hooked up in such a way that the slipper faces forward on the front spring and aft on the rear spring. the bolted end goes to the middle between the axles and are attached to a 2inch channel about 12inch long. Can i leave it like this? or do i need to flip the forward axle and spring around. thanks id send a picture but its in 2 foot of grass

You will want to get it set up correctly because there could be some problems down the road. You may not have to turn the axle around but you will definitely want to make it so the front spring slipper is pointed towards the rear. I have included a picture for reference.
You will need to make sure that the front hangers are the proper height once the springs are turned around to allow for the correct amount of travel. You want the distance from the top of the axle to the bottom of the trailer above it to be the same for both axles.
You may also need to replace the center hanger and/or equalizers. I have included a link to an FAQ article that should help.
