The difference between the two Gen-Y 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters for a Lippert 1621/1621HD pin box is the latches, along with a slight difference in weight capacity. The standard has a 30,000 lb towing capacity while the auto latch has a 25,000 lb capacity, though that should make minimal difference for the majority of RVers.

Apart from the capacity, the standard Gen-Y Adapter # GY36FR needs manual attachment when coupling the hitch to your truck's gooseneck, and then when uncoupling you have to also manually detach it. That isn't the case with the Auto Latch Gen-Y Adapter # GY66FR.

With the Auto Latch you don't have to do anything when coupling, it attaches completely on its own. And when you want to detach from your gooseneck ball, you only have to pull the cable to disengage the latch and that's literally all there is to it.

So while both are going to be fantastic replacements that allow you to pull your 5th wheel with a gooseneck ball and give you a more comfortable ride, for the sheer simplicity of use I recommend the Auto Latch Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY66FR.
