Can I Lock The Saris Superclamp EX Wheel Hooks In Place When Not Hauling Bikes?

Question:

Can the lockdown arms with hooks be locked into the desired angle? In other words, can they be locked into a specific angle with no bike attached? thank you,

The Saris SuperClamp EX 2 # SA4025F are not fixed and can move freely. You can keep them at the angle you want but you will have to move them when you load and unload your bike. Even on bike racks that have a center mast you'll often see the center mast having the capabilities of folding down. Most bike racks are design to fold into themselves for easy storage and or less length added to the back of your vehicle.

If you have the locking arms up as if it were holding down a bike but you have no bikes installed, the bumps you encounter on the road will result in the hooks falling towards or away from the center of the rack. This isn't something I recommend. If you're hauling the rack with no bikes I highly recommend collapsing the arms and or removing the rack from your hitch so no damage occurs to your rack whenever your driving.

If you have more questions you should watch the review I've included. This will show you everything you need to know about the rack and how the locking arms with hooks work.
