Do Wireless Phone Display Backup Cameras Connect to Trailer for Power?

Question:

Has there been any new products introduced in this arena for the Android phone? Looking for something I could permanently mount on the back of a trailer. Distance from the camera to the driver seat where the Android phone would be is about 38 ft. I'm looking for a wireless camera but it will get its power from the trailer. What do you offer along these lines? Thank you very much you are always very helpful.

The Rear View Safety WiFi Hitch Backup Camera # RVS-83112-WIFI is a great option if you want to be able to use your Android phone to monitor your backup camera instead of a traditional monitor display. Unfortunately, this (as well as the other phone-display backup cameras we offer) does not connect to the trailer for power. It uses a rechargeable internal battery with a 5 hour battery life and can be recharged with the included USB cable. The WiFi range on this unit is 50'. Check out the video linked below for more details.

I also linked our selection of other smartphone display camera systems for you to consider available options.

There are some great options for wireless backup cameras to use with your 2018 Ford F-250. First, to answer your questions: A) Some newer trucks do have issues with the internal power management software on their 7-way connector which prevents backup camera systems from getting full power. If you are having this issue with your 2018 Ford F-250, you can use the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter Cable # FR87PR to pull additional power from your trailer battery to provide sufficient power to the backup camera system. Another solution would be to splice in the PWM Filter # VGR64VR behind the camera to provide the proper current to the camera. B) Screen size is measured on the diagonal. C) The only real downsides to using a smaller monitor is you won't get as big of a picture from the display and typically, the larger 7" monitors include capability to add up to two additional cameras in a split-screen view. Smaller monitors won't include this capability due to screen size limitations. Overall, I recommend the Rear View Safety SimpleSight Wireless Backup Camera System # RVS-355W. This includes a durable, weather-resistant backup camera and a 7" monitor, along with mounting brackets, hardware, and wiring. It features capability for up to 3 channels, which is perfect if you want to add another backup or observation camera to your trailer in the future. This system also has a signal range of 100', meaning you will get a strong, uninterrupted signal when using the camera. Check out the video linked below for more details on these products. I've also included a link to our full selection of wireless backup cameras.
