Dexter Part Number K23-047-048 vs etrailer Part 23-47-48
Question:
The parts K23-047-00 Left complete brake assembly and K23-048-00 Right complete brake assembly is for Aspens 800# rated suspension which was a custom build for the Aspen Classic by Dexter for Dexter Aspen Classic trailer axle Configuration #57508. eTrailer part #23-47-48 is identified for 2,000# configuration. The eTrailer configuration would seem on the surface to be much more than necessary. Please advise 23-47-48 suitability to replace the K23-047, K23-048. Thanks much.

What we refer to as part # 23-47-48 is a kit we assemble that includes the Dexter K23-047 and K23-048. They are the same exact parts, we're just selling them together as a single part number. They would be an exact replacement for the existing brake assemblies on your trailer. I couldn't speak to the trailer manufacturer's decision to use a 2K rated braking system on an 800 lb rated axle, but the 7 inch brake assembly is the smallest available, which I'm sure would be the most likely reason.
