Can AirLift 1000 Helper Springs be Used with Weight Distribution on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I was just wondering if there would be an issue with putting air lift helper springs on with a wight distribution hitch? I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and just purchased a 25ft travel trailer. I havent towed the camper yet because i am installing a brake controller and wiring but when towing other trailers like my landscaping trailer I notice that it doesnt take much to get the jeep to sag. Would there be an issue in using both the air lift and the weight distribution?

You can use air helper springs like the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60754 on your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee as well as use a weight distribution system. The key is to setup the air pressure in the air springs before you setup the weight distribution system.

The purpose of your air bag suspension is to help reduce sag at the rear of your vehicle when hauling a heavy load. The purpose of a weight distribution system is to distribute the load of your trailer among all axles which will also reduce sag.

The Airlift system you referenced is confirmed to fit your vehicle and should work well for you. In order to pick out a weight distribution system you will need to know the loaded tongue weight of your setup. You should note that loaded tongue weight includes any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your vehicle. Check out the FAQ article I attached on how to determine tongue weight. I also attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems that you might find informative also.
