Ford Factory Trailer Brake Controller on 2020 F-150 Compared to Aftermarket Alternative
Question:
I am test driving a 2020 Ford F-150 it has a built in break controller but not the manual override switch. Would it be required to make sure this is installed?

You should definitely make sure the Ford F-150 has the manual adjustment for the factory trailer brake controller. There is normally something on the dash that has the positive and negative buttons and a small slider that is the manual override for emergency trailer braking at a stronger power than the brake pedal and proportional braking will be applied.
It is normally to the left or right of the steering wheel so it is within easy reach. You can ask your dealer about it if you are unable to find it as you likely don't have the factory integrated controller if that is not present, but you may still have the wiring harness for an aftermarket brake controller. If you want an aftermarket option that I believe is a better controller and still have a nice clean dash, then I recommend the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers - Pigtail - Ford # 22292 and # 331-TPH-017, along with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR. This is a superior look and has advanced functions, so I would opt for not having the factory controller if it were me and save some money while getting a superior product.
