Platform Bike Rack that Can be Used In Hitch of Flat Towed Vehicle
Question:
I have a Vtuvia step through fat tire bike and my wife’s bike is a regular road bike. Will this rack work for this application? Is there a rack available that is a two bike rack and expandable to four bikes? I see almost all of your bike racks say to not use them on a flat towed vehicle behind an RV. What’s the reason for this? My car is a 2019 Chevy Blazer.

This is a really great question that I had at one point as well. So when I asked the bike rack manufacturers why some racks can't be used in a flat towed vehicle and they told me that when a vehicle is being flat towed it has a very slight back and forth sway as the steering seeks to center itself. This sway causes a bit of stress on bike racks so you'd need a bike rack that is reinforced for that like the Yakima HoldUp EVO 2 bike rack part # Y02480 which is similar to the Saris you mentioned. You'll need the Brophy Hitch Reducer part # HT02 to use it with your 2" hitch.
