Do Trailer Tires Need to be Inflated to Max PSI

Question:

Had a weigh in done at an Escapees Smart Weigh recently. The techs there said Im assuming I heard them right that the RV tires should never be filled to max psi, per sidewall. Everything Ive read says tires should never be under inflated. What is right???

Helpful Expert Reply:

Trailer tires are different from vehicle tires and they do require you to inflate them to the max psi listed on the sidewall when cold. This prevents diminishing the weight capacity of the tire and also heat from building up.
