Recommendations to Flat Tow a 1991 S-10 and a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ with a Tracker Tow Bar
Question:
If using the 107-1 base plate will the RM-020 tow bar work with this set up. I am trying to design a tow system that I can switch the tow bar between an S-10 and a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ by just mounting the base plates on each then we could tow either vehicle. Your thoughts and recommendations.

The Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar # RM-020 that you referenced is compatible with the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate kit # 107-1.
You should note that the # 107-1 is only confirmed to fit your S-10 and would not be compatible with your 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ. You will need a Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1424-1 for your Wrangler. The # RM-020 will work on this vehicle also.
There are several other components required to flat tow a vehicle also. Next, you will want quick disconnects to attach from the base plate kit to the tow bar. For that you will need a Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit # RM-201 as well as a RoadMaster Quick Disconnects - Car Side Only # RM-222 for your second vehicle.
Next you will need safety cables. I would recommend a coiled set like the RoadMaster 68 inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643. These are great because they will coil around the arms of the tow bar to prevent them from dragging.
The next component needed is lighting. There are actually several lighting methods depending on your needs and how often you will be towing the vehicle. I have included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing, some of which cover choosing the best lighting for your needs.
And finally, most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to install and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake portable proportional braking system, part # RM-9400. This unit activates the brakes on the vehicle being towed in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the safest type of braking action, and it reduces wear and tear on the RV and towed vehicle brakes.
You will also want to check the vehicle owners manual for additional information on flat towing the vehicle. Some vehicles require an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, transmission lube pump, or free wheeling hubs in order to be flat towed
